Planes in World War 1 and 2

  • Success of the SPAD

    Success of the SPAD
    Name: SPAD SVII
Overall Analysis: The SPAD S7 was a very good plane. The plane was manoeuvrable and could be handled easily. It was very small which made it less visible. However, the plane didn’t have much of an exciting firepower. It had a Puteaux single shot cannon which was strong but took time to shoot. The best part of the plane was its speed. The speed was 126mph which made it superior. This feature made sure it could get away from other planes easily without any risk.
  • The Camel Treks

    The Camel Treks
    Name: The Sopwith Camel
Overall Analysis: The Sopwith camel was an OK plane. It had a firepower of two standard Vickers Machine Guns. These weren’t that helpful as they had to be fired through the propellers of the plane making it dangerous. The plane wasn’t too big and it also had a good manoeuvrability. However, to turn the plane, the pilot would have to fly at full speed. The best feature of the plane was its maximum speed. This was higher than both Fokkers making it a good runaway plane.
  • Fokker Dr.I Comes into Action

    Fokker Dr.I Comes into Action
    Name: Fokker Dr.I
Overall Analysis: The Fokker Dr.I was a very good fighter plane. It could reach speeds of 115mph and was easily manoeuvrable. The plane itsef could turn very easily and reached heights in short time. It also had a good firepower tanks to two Spandau Machine Guns which were fired with accuracy and the ammunition went long distances. However, the plane was very big and had a large wingspan. This meant it had a higher vulnerability to other planes.
  • The Rise of the Fokker DVII

The Rise of the Fokker DVII
    Name: Fokker DVII
Overall Analysis: The Fokker DVII was small which made it less visible. However, it looked like the Sopwith Camel in terms of the size. The best feature was its manoeuvrability. The plane could turn and twist safely and instantly. This meant it could dodge bullets being shot at it. The plane reached speeds of 116mph which is one up from the Fokker DRI. The plane had two Spandau Synchronized Guns giving it an average but good Horsepower.
  • A Storm has Arrived

    A Storm has Arrived
    Name: Hawker Hurricane
Overall Analysis: The Hurricane is a single-seated fighter plane which was designed and built by Hawker Aircraft. Although it was shadowed by the Supermarine Spitfire, it became largely renowned in the battle of britain. This was because it took over 60% of the victories in the battle. Over 14,000 Hurricane's were built by the end of 1944. This was only in 9 years after its first flight. The Hurricane also had 8 machine guns which were powerful, giving it a good firepower.
  • Highway to Hell

    Highway to Hell
    Name: Supermarine Spitfire
Overall Analysis: The Spitfire is a single seated fighter aircraft which was used by the RAF and other allied countries during World War II. It was continued to be used as a frontline fighter and second roles up to the 1950s. The Spitfire also broke some smaller records during it s time. It was the only british aircraft to be produced in greatest numbers and it was british fighter to be made throughout the war. Over 20,000 of these aircraft were built.
  • The Harrier's Approach

    The Harrier's Approach
    Name: Hawker Harrier
Overall Analysis: The Hawker Harrier was a ground-attack aircraft which was developed in the 1960's. The plane was also known as the Harrier Jump Jet. The Harrier was introduced on the 1st of April 1969 when the RAF ordered it in the late 1960s. The Hawker Harrier included a Rolls Royce Pegasus turbofan-engine designed specifically for the manoeuvrability of this plane.
  • The Concorde is Unleashed

    The Concorde is Unleashed
    Name: Concorde
Overall Analysis: The Concorde is a retired turbo-jet passenger airliner. It was a SST meaning Super Sonic Transport. The plane was developed then produced by Aérospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation. This was under an Anglo-French Treaty. It has a top speed of 2,172 km/h. However, there wer many downsides to the future of the concorde. The concorde travelled at twice the speed of sound and was expensive to build and fly. Tis was why many airlines didn't buy the Concorde.
