Gori Church School
Stalin begins basic studies at Gori Church School when he is 10. While he is at school, he can only speak Russian at school due to the rules of Tsar Alexander III. -
Tiflis Theological Seminary
Stalin received a scholarship for Tiflis Theological Seminary. Instead of focusing on his studies, he gets involved in revolutionary activities. During this time, Stalin learns about the ideas of Karl Marx. He is expelled from the school when they learn about his revolutionary ideas. -
The Bolsheviks
Stalin learns about the Bolsheviks, a political group that believes in the ideas of Karl Marx, formed by Vladimir Lenin. Stalin joins the Bolsheviks. -
Stalin Gets Married
Stalin marries Ekaterina Svanidze. They have one son together, Yakov Iosifovich Dzhugashvili. Ekaterina died of tuberculosis in 1907. -

Lenin appoints Stalin as Commissar of Nationalities, giving him power over millions. -

As Russia becomes the Soviet Union, Stalin is named General Secretary of the Communist Party. He now has many people in his debt. -

Stalin attempts to bring the Soviet Union into the industrial age. He seizes farms and factories that were important to Russia's agriculture, and many people died for protesting or of hunger. Stalin ships food out of the country to try and cover up his plan. -
