    Prince Shotoku sent the first official Japanese mission to China. Another embassy carries a letter from Shotoku to the Chinese emperor seven years later.
  • The Buddhist Temple 607 A.D.

    In the Asuka region, the Buddhist temple Horyuji was established. The monastic compound is Japan's earliest extant Buddhist temple and has the worlds oldest surviving wood structure.
  • Gagakuryo 701 A.D.

    Reform is issued by the Emporer Kotoku, strengthen imprerial political and enconomic authority while weakening the postition of the arusticratic families.
