After the war with France the British was in massive debt and imposed that the Colonists should pay taxes on every stamp they use. -

The Townshend Acts
Britain once again tried taxing the colonists on goods (mostly tea) the colonists needed and this is where the fighting back began. -
The Boston Massacre
As things continued to get more tense between the British and the Colonies a wigmaker got in a argument with a soldier. This would result to 200 colonists screaming and throwing things at the British soldiers this would lead to the British opening fire and killing 3 men. -
The Boston Tea Party
The British stopped all tea trades which forced Americans to buy Britains tea so the British over priced the tea and that outraged the Americans and caused them to revolt by dumping out the tea in the port. -

The Coercive Acts
The British closed the Boston Harbor until the Americans could pay back the money for the tea that they lost as well as putting in new laws.They would go on to replacing the colonist elected council with someone from Britain, didn't allow town meetings without approval, and gave the British army insane amounts of power. -
Lexington and Concord
The plan by the British was to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock and then go to Concord and steal there gunpowder. The Colonists would have spies that picked up on the plan and let the Colonists know. The British were met by 77 American Militiamen and would run the British off. -
Battle in Quebec
The Americans had been winning quite a bit along the North and up through Canada but when they got to Quebec that would end fast. If they had taken the city they would have controlled majority of the North which would have changed the war. -
Declaring Independence
The Second Continental Congress meets to Declare Independence while making a army. Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson vote to make George Washington Commander in Chief of the army. -
Bunker Hill
This is a battle that the British would win pushing the Americans to Breeds hill. This battle would show that there is no turning back and the Americans had to fight now. -
Battle of Charleston
This was a battle for a major seaport. With the British losing this battle this would make there only ports out of the north. This would be where the focus is for the Americans now. -
Battle of Trenton
The outcome of the British winning was no surprise but what happened for the next 10 days was surprising. The Americans made it chaotic for the British and showed them that they wanted to turn the battle around. -
The First Virginia Constitution
Finally they got sick of King George and would draft their own Constitution. They would change everything they didn't agree with and make their laws the way they wanted to. -

Declaration of Independence being drafted and signed
On July 1st they would start to go over and and revise the Constitution how they wanted it to be. On July 8th they would read the Constitution publicly for the first time ever. On August 2nd they would began to sign the Constitution making it official. -
Treaty of Dewitt's Corner
This is a treaty in which the Cherokees lost majority of there east of the mountains. Colonel Andrew Williamson lead the SC delegation to Dewitt's corner to sign off on it. -
Battle of Saratoga
This was considered the biggest turning point in the war. By failure of the British campaign from the North this would make the French choose to side with the Americans which would gain a crucial allie. -
Battle of Yorktown
This is the final battle of the war in which Britain surrenders. This would not have happened when it did if the French had not stepped in and contributed. -
Treaty of Paris
This was the peace treaty signed by the British and the Americans. This was considered the end of the war. -
Shays rebellion
Shays rebellion was a revolt against the debt taxes from the war. -
The Constitutional Convention
The Constitutional Convention was a called meeting to decide how the country was going to be ran and governed. This was a big deal because this would lead to Washington being elected. -
George Washington Elected
George Washington being elected was a big move forward for our country. He was the first President of the United States and the first Commander of our country. -
Whiskey Rebellion
This was a tax imposed by Alexander Hamilton for a federal tax to get out of the debt while putting a tax on whiskey. The small producers didn't like that and protests began immediately.
