    Sectionalism 1812-1865

    Sectionalism was the divide of states with either if they were a Free or Slave
    It caused tension because the north wanted states all to be free because it was morally wrong
    It caused tension with the south because the south wanted them to be slave states because their business "needed" them for business They felt what the south thought was morally wrong because slaves are people too and they shouldn't be treated terribly it was different because they south thought the complete opposite

    The raid was John Brown and his gang went to harpers ferry and attacked a federal arsenal
    The North wasn't happy that he was so violent but what he hoped to achieve and the lengths he was willing to go to they admired
    The South was very unhappy with this as they believed and they thought he (John Brown) should be killed

    The 1860 election was the election in 1860 for a new president
    The North was happy Abraham lincoln won
    The south wanted southern democrat John Breckinridge because he wanted what they wanted
    The were happy their choice (Abraham Lincoln) won the election because even though he didn't pick a side with slavery (even though it was obvious he didn't like it) he wanted to unite the nation
