  • Iron and steel smelting

    The 1st attempt was made near Mittagong, NSW.

  • Smelting in Victoria

    Another attempt - with Victoria Iron Company, later becoming Lal Lal Iron Mining Co. Ltd in 1874.

  • Blast furnace built

    A small blast furnace was built and operated in the 1880's but was never an economic proposition.

  • The smelting plant

    The smelting plant was not economical and closed down.
