IR Grading Period 5

  • Event 1: Jamie is back

    Event 1: Jamie is back
Jamie Grimm is a famous young comedian competing in a contest called Planet's Funniest Kid Comic Contest. He is freaking out because he has made it to the finals, and he afraid he will screw up. Everyone keeps reminding him about it, and it is freaking him out even more. His friends, Gilda, Gaynor, and Jimmy, are especially guilty for always bringing it up. The main settings are Jamie's house, LA, and Franky's diner.
  • Event 2: What's a Smile?

    Event 2: What's a Smile?
Jamie decides to try some new material on his aunt and uncle. Jamie has never ever seen them laugh once. Jamie starts his routine and after a few jokes nothing. Not a single laugh comes from his aunt and uncle. Toward the end of his routine, his aunt and uncle actually ask him to signal when he is about to tell a joke. If he can't even get his aunt and unlce to laugh, how will he be able to make all of America laugh? My thinking about this event is that it ended up stressing Jamie out even more.
  • Event 3: Goodbye Hollywood

    Event 3: Goodbye Hollywood
Jamie is at his uncle Franky's diner rehearsing his jokes, and he is telling people whatever jokes they will request when he receives an alert saying the contest has been postponed. People are thinking they will never resume, and this is literally the end for Jamie. At school he used to be a bigshot celebrity, but now no one notices him again. Just about everything in his life has changed in less than 24 hours. My thinking about this event is that it reminds me of everytime I have been let down.
  • Event 4: Surprise! It's BNC!

    Event 4: Surprise! It's BNC!
When Jamie gets home from school, he is moping around, and he decides to turn on the television to the BNC channel. As he is eating his food, he hears Aiden Buchholz, anchor for BNC, say that the contest is back on in two weeks, and the prize has been risen from $100,000 to one million dollars, and the winner also gets their own sitcom show.. All his fans from school have returned. His life is back. My thinking about this event is that it's very predictable just like in many movies and books.
  • Event 5: Wanna Meet Jimmy Fallon?

Event 5: Wanna Meet Jimmy Fallon?
Jimmy Fallon has invited Jamie to be on the Tonight Show, and Jamie is scared he will choke. Before he goes on the Tonight show, Jamie bumps into a big-shot agent named Max Weasley. Max promises big movies, enormous houses, and tons of money. Jamie is very excited, but the deal will have to wait because he has to go on stage with Jimmy. After a minute he kills it knocking everyone over laughing. My thinking is that most books will not have the main character meeting Jimmy Fallon.
  • Event 6: Welcome to the Finals and LA

Event 6: Welcome to the Finals and LA
After a day of nothing in LA, it is time for part one of the Finals. All of the contestant grabbed a number from a hat, and Jamie drew number 8, so he will go last. When it is finally his turn he can not remember his jokes. After everything is over, he can not remember anything he did, and he is pretty sure he bombed. Jamie ends up winning! My thinking about this event is that I am really glad Jamie won despite all the negativity that has been happening throughout the book.
  • Event 7: Welcome Home

    Event 7: Welcome Home
When Jamie arrives home, everyone is there to greet and congratulate him. When he gets home and turns the t.v. on, he sees the sappy background story BNC people filmed about him. He thinks the only reson he has moved on is because of a bunch of pity votes. When he is by his real friends, he is a huge jerk and may have lost their friendship. He is even mean to his uncle Franky, but Franky quickly gets him better again. My thinking is about this event is that you can not let fame control you.
  • Event 8: Hurricane Sam

    Event 8: Hurricane Sam
Hurricane same is predicted to be the storm of the century, and without a doubt it lived up to its expectations. Jamie was inside his home with his aunt and uncle, who never smile, hiding from the storm. In the morning, Jamie went outside to see the damage. He was absolutely blown away. Everyone in town went to the high school live for a few days. My thinking about this event is that even though bad things happen you need to make the best of them.
  • Event 9: Laughter is the Best Medicine

Event 9: Laughter is the Best Medicine
While Jamie is walking around his new temporary home, his high school, some people ask him to do some jokes to help everyone not think about everything that they have lost. Jamie agrees and is happy to help. Everyone is dying of laughter, and Jamie is so glad he is able to help. My thinking about this event is that Jamie making people forget about what happened for a few minutes is really kind and considerate of him to do. Not everyone uses their gift like the way he does.
  • Event 10: The Finals

    Event 10: The Finals
Jamie arrives in LA, and it is time for The Finals. As he rolls on stage, Jamie, once again, forgets his whole act. Instead of telling jokes he decides to tell the judges about how this contest has changed him. At the end of his performance, he is greeted by his aunt and uncle, they are actually smiling! This made him feel better, and I am guessing finding out he won helped too. My thinking about this event is that even though he has a disability, he was able to overcome it and win the contest.
  • Event 11: Time to Celebrate!

    Event 11: Time to Celebrate!
Getting to the airport is impossible for Jamie because of all the people swarming him. All he wants is to leave and celebrate with his friends. His new television show is called "I Funny TV", just like the title. When he finally gets home, he visits his old rehab center. He gave the center his trophy because, without them, he wouldn't have won. My thinking about this event is that even though he was swarmed by reporters and agents, he did not go back to having such a huge ego like he had before.
  • Reflection

    Reflection
Overall I thought my book was very funny and fast paced. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. I would watch the movie if there was one, and I think that it would for sure be a good one. If they made another book after this I would read it for my next IR project. I think it is believable because there could be a comedy contest for kids and there could be a hurricane. I wish that the hurricane part was not put in so quick after him winning round one.
