A condition in the Treaty of Versailles was that Germany could not occupy the Rhineland. But this did not stop Germany from marching troops in. The League of Nations again did nothing to prevent this from happening.

In 1936 both Germany and Italy had racist dictators. In support with each other the two countries made an agreement called the Rome-Berlin Axis.

A month after creating the Rome-Berlin Axis Germany signed a pact with Japan. The pact was an anti-communist agreement that stated they would fight together against communist countries.

Anschluss is the uniting of German speaking people in Germany and Austria. After the first war Germany was not allowed to have an alliance with Austria. But in 1938 Germany was able to occupy Austria easily.

After annexing Austria Hitler was determined to annex Czechoslovakia. Britain and France made an agreement with Mussolini and Hitler in efforts to stop them from annexing more territory that allowed him to take the German speaking parts of Czechoslovakia. Germany agreed to this but it did not last.

Signing the Munich Agreement did not stop Germany from invading Czechoslovakia. Britain chose not to do anything in response to this.

Hitler wanted power and to invade other parts of Europe. He realized to do so he had to create an agreement with the Soviet Union. The agreement stated the two could not fight each other. Hitler broke this in 1941.

Germany annexed Czechoslovakia and wanted Poland. Hitler and Joseph Stalin created an agreement to divide the country of Poland. This move was a violation of the Munich Agreement.

On Septemeber 3,1939 Britain finally declared war on Germany after the realization that their plans had failed. They could no longer keep peace.
