During this, the continental army was preparing for winter at Valley Forge near Philadelphia, when leader Baron Von Steuben reorganized and trained them for the military campaigns. The colonists suffered from a lack of resources at this time. The French began arriving in the United States, which made the British scared, so they abandoned Philadelphia and went back to New York City.

    General Cornwallis left New York to come to Yorktown because he was not getting any help in the south, and because Yorktown was a city on the coast with many resources. At Yorktown, it was surrounded by George Washington and his troops, Marquis de Lafayette, french troops, french navy led by Comte de Grasse, and the British army led by Cornwallis. The treaty of Paris ended the revolution.
