    Initiative and Referendum were adopted South Dakota in 1898 by a vote. Initiative process is a citizen who wants to propose a law to the people nd organize, draft the proposed law, and then let it to be signed.
    Referendum is a direct vote in which an entire electorate is asked to vote on a particular proposal.

    The recall is a direct democracatic procedure that provides for removal of elected officials before their terms expire. It was first adopted when the Los Angele city charter of 1903.
