    The French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was a nine-year battle between France and England. The war sparked when both Britain and France claimed territories in the New World. This territory was the area between the Appalachians and the Mississippi River. Thats when the disagreements started, leading to the French and Indian War. I think it was important because afterwards the debt in England doubled so they increased taxes in the 13 colonies.

Through the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, and other taxes, the British tried to collect taxes that the American people considered harsh. The American people were tired of being ruled by the King and wanted to prove a point. The Revolutionary War was significant because it was necessary for the US to break away from british control. The Emancipation Proclamation
Lincoln issued the proclamation Jan 1, 1863. It was a technical document, granting freedom to all slaves in areas of the Confederacy still in rebellion. The proclamation did not pertain to slaves in the border states, but it did allow for the popular use of African-Americans in the Union Army and Navy. The proclamation also made the war a crusade against slavery. This document was very inmortant because if Lincoln didn't make the Emancipation Proclamation, then slavery would still be going on.

    Battle of the Alamo
The Battle of the Alamo is one of the most famous battles in American military history, even moreso because it was a horrendous defeat. The people of Texas had declared themselves independent from Mexico. Its significance at the time was that a ragtag group of Texan soldiers and volunteers held off a much larger invading force under Santa Anna, inflicting a disproportionate number of casualties, which gave Sam Houston time to gather and plan for the final battle at San Jacinto.

The civil war was important because it set the stage for the freeing of slaves, made the nation a stronger whole, and improved many aspects of daily life i.e health care, banking systems, farming and city life.

150 years ago this week Union and Confederate forces clashed at the Battle of Antietam. The bloodiest day in American history, the battle saw Union troops block Gen. Robert E. The Great Depression
After nearly a decade of optimism and prosperity, the United States was thrown into despair on Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929, the day the stock market crashed and the official beginning of the Great Depression. The great depression was important because it kinda pushed the US into a better economic system. there were laws set afterward to attempt to prevent something like that from happening again. it also produced a lot of good organizations through the work of FDR.

  • The Korean War

North Korean troops poured across the border into South Korea, intent on reunifying the country through force of arms. What began as a bitter civil war soon exploded into a major international crisis, as first the United States and then China intervened by sending hundreds of thousands of their own ground troops into battle to prevent the defeat of their respective Korean allies. It's important to the United States because it started frustrating and thankless job of leading collective security.
