  • the invention of the telescope

    The person geting most credit for creating the telecope was Galileo Galilei thogh tere were some that tried to get a pattent erlier but they didn't succed. He was able to get a magnification (how much larger the image is) of x30. This is very important for us as it made us understand space and later get better telecopes.

  • The liquid fueled rocket engine

    Robert Goddard invented the liquid fueled rocket engine which is an important event because it made it easier to control rockets as its much easier to turn the throttle up, down and extinguish on a liquid fueled engine than a solid fueled rocket. This is because you only have to reduce the amount of liquid that flows into the combustion chamber whilst solid rockets have to have much more complex mechanism to throttle up, down and extinguish. this means liquid fueled engines can make... continued

  • The liquid fueled rocket part 2

    precise movements in orbit to get satellites and spacecrafts exactly where you want them. You can also refuel liquid a thousand times easier than solid fuel. Liquid fuel you only need a hose to transfer the fuel whilst with solid fuel you would have to open up the fuel containers and have some kind of robotic arm to transfer it between the containers.

  • Yuri Gagarin first human in space

    Yuri Gagarin was the first human in space and was in flight for 108 minutes. This signalised the start of the space age. Which was a huge step forward as it made people sure you could send people to space and get them back safe. Yuri was awarded a lot of medals and became a celeberty.

  • The voyagers

    The voyagers are two space craft namded voyager 1 and 2 (Voyager 2 was launched first) that were sent to make fly byes of the outer planets. But also got the misson to be the first space craft to cross the heliosheath, (which is the boundry of our solar system) in December of 2004 by Voyager 1. They took some of the best pictures of the outer planets and will kep sending information because they will travel untill someting hits it. On the voyagers theres a disc named sounds of the Earth.

  • The Hubble space telescope

    The Hubble space telescope (HST) is a space telescope that have collected a lot of data for us. For example the first accurate gues on how large our universe is (13,7 billion years) and how fast it expands. This also led to we calculating how old the universe is. It also confirmed that there is nerly always a black hole in the center of a galaxy and much more.
