    In 1932, the Nazi party became the most powerful party in Germany. This lead up to Hitler's power ranking increasing as German's government(Reichstag) let him make decisions for the country, ultimately ending in Hitler becoming the Fuhrer, or dictator. This in all is what gave Hitler the advantage to make, for lack of better words, his plan of world domination and mass genocide.
  • Britain and France Take Action

    Britain and France Take Action

    As a response to Germany's overtake of Austria and Czechoslovakia, and the failed Munich Pact, Britain and France had no option but to declare war, even with the world wide depression. This action was the start of the Allies vs. Axis powers, the official start of WW2.
  • French Surrender

    French Surrender

    Realizing that a direct attack from Germany would devastate the country, they made an agreement with Germany to hand over Paris without fight. June 14th, the Germans walked into an empty Paris. As for all the French citizens, the Germans relocated the population to a territory, named Vichy France. This commenced the fall of one of the Allies, showing an unfortunate advantage of the Germans in the war so far.

    Pearl Harbor

    Taking advantage of the chaos, Japan began an expansion of territory, overtaking islands and became a threat to countries around them, resulting the U.S. to begin to retaliate against Japan forces. The plan led by Admiral Isoroku Yamamato, Japan launched submarines and bombs to attack an American base in Hawaii, ending in casualties of 3,400, 2,300 of which died, indefinitely involving the U.S. into the war officially.

    All American Girls Baseball Team

    The All American Girls Baseball Team was just one of the steps in women gaining equal footing with men. With the absence of men off fighting, women had to fill in their places, including America's pastime sport. It showed society that women were more than capable to do roles the same as men in jobs and positions alike.
  • D-Day

    D-Day

    D-Day had symbolized the start of the end of Germany, effectively pushing German forces back East with the help of the Soviets. This gave more hope to other countries still in need at the time, and an advantage to Allied forces.
  • Paris is Liberated

    Paris is Liberated

    American and French troops liberate Paris from Nazi control, taking back Luxembourg, Belgium, and all of France. This once again set Hitler back and retreating as he slowly was losing power.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge

    Taking place in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium, the battle of the Bulge was the very last offensive battle for Hitler. The goal was to split American and British forces then beat them separately, scaring East Europe. Even though it was German's plan, Allied forces still won, making the Nazis realize they were going to lose the war.
  • Nazi Germany Surrenders

    Nazi Germany Surrenders

    In the end, Germany finally loses, Soviets surrounding Berlin, and Germany surrendering. Days before, Hitler knew the Nazi's demise was coming, and he ultimately killed himself along with his wife. Concentration camps were liberated, but not changing the 12 million killed in the duration of the war. Thus, all signalling the end of the war, until Germany signing the German Instrument of Surrender.
  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    With Japan's military threat increasing by the day, the U.S. had to formulate a plan to stop them. Fortunately, American scientists had finished making the atomic bomb. To stop Japan, we first dropped it on Hiroshima without warning, wiping out 100,000 people instantly, and 100,000 from after effects and injuries. A few days later, Nagasaki was next, again without much warning or time for recovery, effectively ending warring relations with Japan.
