The individual has just eaten a food allergen for the first time. However, the individual will not respond negatively or react yet.
-
After the allergen is eaten, an IgE antibody is formed which attaches itself to cells located in the tissues which are all over the body
-
Since the individual has eaten the allergen, and the antibody has formed the body is now primed for that allergen, peanut butter, if it were to enter the body again
-
The individual has just eaten peanut butter, and will now find out they are allergic to it due to a reaction.
-
The allergen, peanut butter, attaches to the IgE antibodies. It then sends out signals for the body to release histamine, in large amounts.
-
The individual will now experience an allergic reaction. The individual could experience irritation and swelling in specific areas of the body. Also in some cases an individual could experience hives, shortness of breath, or in some cases even death. He/She may need to use an EpiPen if the reaction is very bad.
