  • Step 1 Allergen consumed

    Person eats a substance that causes an allergic reaction for the first time.

  • Step 2 Antibody created

    When the person eats the allergen for the first time the body creates an antibody or protien that detects harmful substances .

  • Step 4 Allergen binds to Antibodies

    When the food allergen re enters the body, the allergen bibds to the antibodies and sends out signals to the body to realease large amounts of histamine.

  • Step 5 Histamine reaction

    Thehistamine causes irritation and swellingin parts of the body.

  • Step 6 Body Responds

    The result of this irritation varies from person to person, from mild hives, shortness of breath, to anaphylaxis.
