    He is currently 46 years old and is married with 2 children. He started his journey in 1999 when he was only 26 years old. He immigrated from India to America.
  • New Job, New Country

    New Job, New Country
    Growing up in a household with three other children was a challenge because his parents were not able to afford education for all four children. Luckily, his big brother stepped in and paid for some of his education. After finishing his education, he joined the Tata Consulting Company and was sent to America to help with the Y2K issue.
  • Came to America

    After he had landed in America, he realized that he had left his book with all his contacts in India. He panicked and prayed to God, hoping for a solution to present itself. Luckily, a man came into a restroom to wash his face and noticed that Ram was also with Tata Consulting Company. He gave Ram a few numbers to call and left for his flight. This helped Ram tremendously, as he was able to contact his manager who then brought him safely home.
  • First Day on the Job

    Through the Tata Consulting Firm, he came to America to work for General Electric Auto-Financial Services (GE AFS) in Barrington, Illinois as a DBA (Database Administrator).
  • Left for India

    He left to get married.
  • Got married.

    Got married.
    He married Jayasri Akula on February 19, 2000.
  • Came back

    After getting married, both my dad and my mom came back to live in America.
  • Went back to Mumbai

    His employment contract ended, and he had to go back to his country. Started looking for another overseas opportunity.
  • Came back again

    He found work at the General Electric Headquarters and returned to America in Fairfield, Connecticut.
  • Resigned his job

    He found out that his manager was unethical and was using him, so he chose to resign his job and found another job at American Express in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • New Job

    He was contacted and informed that he had gotten a job at Am-Ex (American Express) and was overjoyed because he and his wife had been struggling to live.
  • Disappointment

    It was his wife's birthday, and they both went out to celebrate not only her birthday but the news of him getting a new job. However, after dinner, they found out that his job offer had gotten canceled.
  • Hope?

    His wife was now pregnant and they were getting desperate for a job. Luckily, he got a job offer from Capital One in Richmond, VA. He and his wife put everything their car could carry and hightailed it to Richmond. They moved into an apartment in Broadmoor.
  • New Baby

    New Baby
    On December 17, 2004, they gave birth to their first child. They decided to name her Sai Manaswi Gonela, after his favorite goddess, Goddess Parvathi Devi. (Manaswi is one of her many names.)
  • New House!

    New House!
    After having the baby, he decided that they needed a bigger space and moved into a brand-new house and bought a brand-new car. They lived in that house for 12 years.
