The Kernersville Branch Library moved into a tiny building in Harmon Park. The building was the office of the late D.W. Harmon and was also the former town hall.
-
When Mrs. Zora Sapp Paddison passed in April 1966, she left funds to the town as well as wishes for a library to be built to honor her late husband, Dr. John R. Paddison. Dr. Paddison served many citizens of Kernersville over the course of his career.
-
A committee of townspeople supervised the construction of the new library, which was built at a cost of $400,000. One of Mrs. Paddison’s specifications in her will was that a memorial room be set aside for her husband’s memory. Furnishings in the Paddison Room include the doctor’s medical equipment, as well as many items from their home.
