    To compensate the property owners affected by HS2, the Government launches its Exceptional Hardship Scheme. From January to July, homeowners and other people affected by HS2 consulted with the Governement. See the reports here

    Prefered route for HS2 The Government reveals its prefered route for HS2 which links London and Birmingham. The route is met with strong opposition by people living in the Warwickshire area, however the Transport Secretary criticises their views.
  • HS2 Finally Gets the Go Ahead

The link, which is estimated to cost around £33bn, will connect London and Birmingham before other branches heading to Manchester and Leeds are introduced. There are still opponents who question how much HS2 will benefit their areas. The Secretary of State for Transport referes to the increase in jobs but people are still unconvinced.

By objecting, the council will be able to debate with a Select Committee and this will ensure that Coventry will not miss out on any potential investments. Residents of Coventry appear to have mixed views about HS2, with some debating whether it will actually bring any benefits to their area.
