  • English Banqueting House

    English Banqueting House
    Banquet hall (English Banqueting House) at the White Hall (now non-existent) in London was built in 1619-1622 by the project of Inigo Jones. This is one of the first buildings of Palladian architecture in the north of Europe, which for a long time served as a venerable example for English architects. As the name implies, a three-story mansion of deliberately restrained architecture was meant for receptions and banquets, and not for living.

    Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire - an example of British classicism and Palladianism was built by the influential aristocratic family of Curzons in 1759-63. Scottish architect Robert Adam generously decorated the interior of the mansion in reminiscences to the masterpieces of Roman antiquity. The exterior of the building of a dark stone fits perfectly into the colors of the "foggy Albion". The interior is a luxurious English style of neoclassicism.

    One of the few buildings in the Art Deco style in London is the Freemasons Hall. In addition, this is the first building in the world, made of reinforced concrete. It was built between 1927 and 1933. Freemasons Hall is the center of English Masonry for 230 years. This is the place where more than a thousand Masonic lodges meet in Britain and the main office of the United Grand Lodge of England, the oldest Grand Masonic lodge in the world.
