Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank after both of them were fired from Handy Dan Home Improvement Centers. Both of them expected it to be an awesome store with good merchandise with good prices and qualified workers.

later, on June 22, 1979 with the help of investment banker Ken Langone and merchandising guru Pat Farrah the first 2 Home Depot stores opened in Atlanta. The 2 stores were huge and had an awesome catalog that was bigger than any other hardware store . The idea of home depot is that the workers were able to show the costumers how to use the same things they sell, for example how to change a fill valve. but this wasn’t enough to sell.
