  • Trail of Tears

    Trail of Tears
The Indina Removal Act is passed. Since the beginning of the formation of the states citizens have wanted the land for themselves. This Ac of 1830 reminds me of the Senate Bill 1070 with the difference that the Indians were native to the states and they had the complete right to stay in their land. • Gold is found in California

    Gold is found in California
One thing that has contributed to the migration to America can be seen alot in what the U.S. has to offer to the people and that is the opportunity to prosper. Like it was in the case when gold was found in California it made many people rush to California in attempts to find Gold there. • Gold Rush

    Gold Rush
Many people left to the west part of the States to find gold to have a better life. One of the reasons of immigration to the U.S. is because of that opportunity people think they will find here. The U.S. is know to be the land to achieve the American Dream and people tierd and fustrated in thier homelands set on to find that change of life. During the 1880 the U.S. was going through so troubles economically the ones that were blamed were the Chinese and on May 6, 1882 and Act was established that didn't allow anymore Chinese immigration. • Chinese Exculsion Act

    Chinese Exculsion Act
Chinese were the ones blamed for taking job opportunities for U.S. citizens, they believed that the reason they did not have a job was because Chinese would work for much less money. Because of that the Chinese Exclusion Act was established. Similar ideas and comments can be heard now a days in Arizona.

  • Alien Contract Labor Law

This law prohibited migration of foreigner under contract. I think this law may have been a couse of why we know have travel visa which allows foreign people to travel to the U.S. but does not grant them the opportunity work in the U.S.
  • Ellis Island is opened

    Ellis Island is opened
In 1892 Ellis Island was opened. It was a federal immigration process center were millions of immigrants were processed. Many people argue that they would be more respectful to the hispanic community if they were entering legally such like the people did through Ellis Island. The problem is that there is not a process like that any more. Maybe they can look at the reulst of that the process and come up with a solution.

  • Brown vs. Board of Education

    Brown vs. Board of Education
It was ruled that everyone equal rights to education, this also reminds me of the recent decision of our President Obama with the Deffered Action which grants the students with specific criteria met to have their working permit. • Brown vs. Board of Education

    Brown vs. Board of Education
Even though the problem during this time was that actual citizens of the United States were being denied education that they deserved I still think that this decision has influenced immigration attitudes today. Immigrant students feel that they deserve the equal opportunity of education as other and have tried to convinve people to pass the Dream Act.

  • "Bull" Connor orderd to leave his office

"Bull" Connor orderd to leave his office
During the Civil Rights movement there were people opposed to desegregation and one of them was "Bull" Connor Mayor of Brimingham, Alabama. Even thought Sheriff Arpaio has not go to the extreme like Connor he is known for being a strict and tough Sheriff and is hated by many espcially by the hispanic community in Arizona.

  • Immigration and Nationality Act 1965

On October 1965 and Act was established to attract skilled workers to the Unites States. People today argue that there are still allowing other students from other countries to come the U.S. and study but that they already have skilled students who are ready to prosper the U.S. even more they just need the opportunity. These people highly support the Dream Act.
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986

This act gave millions of people legal status to be in the United States. More and more people have crossed over the States and they too hope for an amnesty for them so they can work and be in the States legally like the many people that were granted in 1986.
