    The Anschluss, known for the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany. Austrians were very pleased by this, but it led to descrimination against Austrian jews.
  • The Munich Conference

    Hitler met with representatives of the heads of state from France, the United Kingdom, and Italy.An agreement was reached that Hitler could annex the Sudetenland provided he promised not to invade anywhere else. All four countries signed the agreement.

    War was declared (by Britain on Germany) on Sept. 3, 1939. Immediately, the air raid sirens sounded. It was a false alarm. For the next six months, nothing happened. This was the Phony War. it ended when Germany invaded France, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxemburg on May 10, 1940.
