    An armistice is signed on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month that ends the fighting of World War I

  • First Armistice Day

    Workers didn't get the day off. They only took a two minute break at 11:00.

  • States Make Armistice Day a Legal Holiday

    Throughout the 20's and 30's states make Armistice Day a legal holiday within their state.

  • Congress Makes Armistice Day a Legal Holiday

    The holiday only applies to federal employees, but states that don't already have an Armistice Day soon follow their lead.

  • New Name

    President Eisenhower signs a bill changing the name of Armistice Day to Veteran's Day.
