  • The 20th century begins.

    The dawn of the industrialization era was upon us. The 1900's brought us many great things. I will reveal the most influential things that happened on the American side of things. I may miss some things, but I'm including things I find interesting, and that I think are important.
  • The Wright Brothers First Flight

    The Wright Brothers First Flight
    The Wright brothers had been creating and scheming gliders for many years now, but had created the worlds first powered plane. The Wright Flyer 1. This paved the way for human travel trhough the air, and was modified and used in the coming WW1. Air travel was more efficient, and faster than the current naval travel.
  • Henry Ford Creates The Model T

    Henry Ford Creates The Model T
    Henry Ford creates and invents the Model T. The Model T was an influential car that shaped the automotive industry, and started Ford Automotive. It was not the first mode made by Ford, but the most popular. It was cheap, and affordable for the common class. This also revoloutionized the assembly line. Instead of having the people move on e line, the line moved. It made mass production possible, and is one of the possible factors for overpopulation.

  • Sinking of the RMS Lusitania

    Sinking of the RMS Lusitania
    The Lusitania was a British passenger boat which was sunk by German U-Boats on 7 May 1915 during the Great War, or WW1. It killed 1,198 and left only 761 survivors. The sinking was brash and made alot of heads turn. It also influenced the decision for the US to join the war.
  • Zimmermann Telegram

    Zimmermann Telegram
    The Zimmermann Telegram was a proposal from the German army for Mexico to join an alliance with Germany to finish out the war. The US hadn't joined World War I against Germany just yet, but talks were being made. The proposal was intercepted and decoded by British intelligence. The message after being decoded was sent to the US. After that, the US had no choice but to join the war and intervene befor things got out of hand.

    The United States' joined the war against the Germans in April 1917 (
    April 6th to be exact), after two and a half years of the United States being neutral in the war. The Lusitana had sank, the defiance of internatonal law by the Germans which affected llprties neutral or not, and the Zimmerman telegram had culminated in this anticipated decision. President Woodrow Wilson and the US congress voted for the US to join the fight.

    The Harlem Renaissance was a movement that spanned the 1920s. During the time, it was known as the "New Negro Movement". The Movement also included the new cultural expressions across the urban areas and densely populated "Black area" in the Northeast United States. Harlem was the focal point of it all. Hence the name.
  • Louis Armstrong

    Louis Armstrong
    Louis Armstrong came to fame in the 1920's as a trumpet and cornet player. He was a prominent and wellknow figure that is still highly regarded today. He had a lovable personality, and was very easy to get along with. He shifted Jazz from more of an ensemble, to a smaller group/solo performances. Later on in his life he was a major black rights activist.

    Al Capone was an American gangster who was made famous for his crime during the Prohibition era. He was a major part in the bootlegging industry in the 1920's, and underground crime and establishing a gang prescence in New York, and Chicago.

    The Scopes trial was a case in 1925 where John Scopes was found using Darwinian evoloution in his High School science classes instead of the bible. He was later found guilty and charged 100$. It was against the tennessee butler act and illegal to practice non-biblical evoloution at this time in this area.

    Walt Disney was an american pioneer of the animation industry, the creator of "Disney", and the creator and actor for Mickey Mouse. He continued to run the worlds most prominent childrens cartoon company until his death in 1966.

    Black Tuesay was the start of the great depression that lasted 10 years. It signified the greated stock market crash in the history of the United States. The US. weren't the only affected country. All western countries were affected by this economic recession.

    The Great Depression was a time in which the US economy took a major tumble. People were homeless on the streets, Had no jobs, the government was in massive debt. It just wasn't a good time for anyone in the US. It ended by president FDR who passed "The New Deal".

    In the Great Depression Mary McLeod Bethune was one of the greatest educators in the United States. She was a prominent female leader for many African Americans during the Great Depression and was a very close advisor to presidents of the 1930’s. After completing school she started teaching many kids and adults the things she learned.
  • The New Deal

    The new deal was a series of programs launched by president FDR to help gorw the economy during the Great Depression. There is controversy whether or not it worked. But one thing we do know is that doing nothing does nothing. The New deal was comprised of something politicians refer to as the "Three R's". Relief, Recovery, and Reform. That is Relief for the unemployed and poor. Recovery of the economy to normal levels. Reforming of the financial system to prevent another depression.

    FDR was the 32nd president of the United States of America. He was made famous by his work during the Great Depression, and the "New Deal". FDR served from march 1933 to his death at the end of WW2 in 1945. He voted into office to replace Herbert Hoover who was seen as a naive politician who didn't do much. (Which we don't know if it's true). But was blamed by the majority of the U.S. for the so-called "Hoovervilles"
  • Eleanor Roosevelt

    Eleanor Roosevelt was and American politiian, and the longest serving first lady of the U.S. with her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933, to 1945. She also gave speeches in her husbands place after his partial paralysis. She later went on to become Chairwoman of the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women during the Kennedy administration. United States Delegate to the United Nations General Assembly, United States Representative to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

    Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician who was the leader of the Nazi Party. Hitler was at the centre of World War II in Europe, and the holocaust. He started out as a good politician with anti smoking, anti animal abuse. But was blindsided by his hate for the rich Jews.
  • Amelia Earhart Crash

    Amelia Earhart Crash
    Amelia Earhart was a memorable female aviation pioneer, and active writer.Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She was a major role in pop culture as she was the image for women everywhere proving that girls can do things just as well as boys can. During her famous attemrpt to fly across the globe in 1937 in a Lockheed Model 10 Electra, Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island, and was never seen again.

    The Holocaust

    The holocaust was a mass genocide in which 6 million jews were killed. They were killed by the Nazi regime during the second world war. By the end of 1942, victims were being regularly transported by freight train to specially built extermination camps where, if they survived the journey, most were systematically killed in gas chambers. The campaign of murder continued until the end of World War II in Europe in April–May 1945.
  • U-Boats

    A U-boat, (Short German for unterseeboats, or underseaboat) was a milatary submarine used by the Germans throughout ww2. Although at times they were efficient fleet weapons against enemy naval warships, they were most effectively used in an economic warfare role, as they blocked off all shipping from britan at one point.

    The attack on pearl harbor was a surprise bombing by the Japanese navy to catch the US offguard. It was supposed to keep the US from coming into Japanese islands. However, it ended up the US droppin 2 atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

    The Manhattan Project was a develeopmental team trying to create the first nucelar warheads for use in WW2. The team consisted of the allies of ww2. Not only were they successful and it was a major part in thr ending of the war, but it also went on to employ more than 130,000 people and cost nearly US$2 billion (around 26 million USD today.

    During World War II, approximately 400,000 U.S. women served Women played a huge role with helping the U.S. through work on home soil. They did everything from make bombs, to making clothes. The U.S. couldn't have won the war without the help of Women. In reality, they played just as big a role as the men did.

    Code talkers are people in the 20th century who used obscure languages as a means of secret communication during wartime. Most of these code talkers were native american, hence the addition of the word Navajo. They would be used to transmit messages to areas where the enemy wouldn't be able to understand the code, and to deliver messages to our soldiers to help us win the war.

    Propaganda was very prevalent in WW2 for the reasons of the Allies/axis wanting something. Usually paranoia posters such as this photo, are posted to people don't think about the war. Other posters include: Recruitment, Employment through the military, etc.. It was an integral role in keeping the peace at hone.

    The Normandy landings (d-day) were the landing operations on 6 June 1944 by the allied forces on the beaches of Normandy in an attempt to free France from German control. They were successful, it was also the largest Naval attack in history. There were believed to be 19 000+ casualties.

    Anne Frank was a german born author. She is most famous for her diary 'The Diary of a Young Girl'. The Frank family moved to the Netherlands shortly before the Germans took control of the country. She was a Jewish girl killed by the Nazi regime whilst hiding inside the closet of a home for years.

    Harry Truman was elected president, he passed the idea to drop the bombs in Japan, passed the Marshall Plan, and started the Korean war. Also Under Truman, the Allies successfully concluded World War II.

    In the closing stages of WW2, the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The two bombings, which killed an estimated 129,000 people, is the largest and only use of nuclear bombs.

    Jackie Robinson made his debut to become the first ever black baseball player in the MLB. He was picked up by the LA Dodgers to be the teams star player. This was a turning point in desegregation as the path was paved for black players to join the big leagues instead of the old negro leagues.

    Marilyn monroe was a very famous and controversial actor/model of the 1950's/60's. She made loads of successfull movies and was seen as one of the best looking people on the planet. She was also controversial due to her becoming a major sex symbol

Board of Education was a famous American supreme court case and Civil Rights act, where the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional, which in turn created public schools for all colours to learn as one, and learn the same curriculum. It paved the way for integration of new black rights laws.

    Elvis Presley was an influential and famous singer songwriter from Tupelo Missisippi. He was one if not the most famous Rock and Roll artist in the Americas during the 50's. He was also referred to as "The King Of Rock".

    The Vietnam War was a war between the communist forces of North Korea supported by Russia, Cuba, East Germany, and others battling the South Vietnam supported by the U.S., West Germany, and co. The North ended up winning resulting in a reunification of the two to become one.

    Rosa Parks was a black rights activist who was most known for sitting in the white part of a bus. She was actually sitting in the black section of the bus, but a white man came onto the bus and the bus driver told the blacks to make room for him, Rosa refused to move. She was later arrested and fined for 4$. It also sparked the montgomery bus boycott.
  • Martin Luther King Jr.

    Martin Luther King Jr., or MLKJr. Was a civil rights activist during the 1960's. He was most noted for his walk from Selma to Montgomery alabama. The reason for the walk was to get President Johnson to fix black voting laws which was a major need for all american citizens. He was assasinated in 1968.

    John F. Kennedy or JFK was an american democrat and the 35th president of the U.S.A. He was a big into civil rights, and was adored by many. He was arguably the most well known president of the United States. He was in office from 1961-63 and was assasinated in '63 in what was one of the big shocks of the modern day. He was also the president during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was a standoff for 13 days between the U.S. and the Soviet Union over missiles located in Cuba. The Soviets helped Cuba by plasing Nuclear weapons in Cuba to prevent harrassment. Fidel Castro and the Russians also placed several launching facilities, it was the Cold War's big nuclear scare. The U.S. had ballistic missiles in eastern europe ready to go which was the big reason for the Soviet involvement. It eventually boiled down to nothing, but put the world on the edge.

He was called one of the most influential african americans of all time, and fought to end racism towards not only african americans, but all immigrants. His tactics were based in god, but he carreid it out through a more violent way compared to his passive other MLKjr.

    Apollo 11 was the first successfull apollo mission in which it sent the first humans to the Moon. The team consisted of american astronauts Neil A. Armstrong. Michael Collins, Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr.
    There are many conspiracies surronding this event saying if it happened or not, but the reason for the launch was mainly to beat the Russians for the first to land on the moon.

    Richard Nixon was the 37th president of the United States Of America. Nixon was most known for his resignation from office (being the only president to so so) due to the Watergate Scandal. Where Nixon placed tapes, cameras, and recorded all actions in the Watergate hotel/mall. Most believe he was paranoid and also taped all meetings within the oval office. He was also famous for the release of the Pentagon Papers, where classified tapes/papers around Nixon and the Vietnam war were released.

He was also the president to end the long Cold War, and make peace with Gorbachev's Russia.

    Bill Clinton was a new democrat and the 42nd president of the USA. He was elected in 93, and serverd 2 terms until 2001. Clinton was part of the Democratic party and was called "A New Democrat". He was often compared to that of JFK in the terms of how he connected to the public, and the way he did things. He was most well known sadly for his affair with white house intern Monica Lewinsky.

    The 9/11 attacks were the first massive terrorist attack on American soil. Where Al-Qaeda led by wealthy oil banker/terrorist Osama Bin Laden organized a plane to fly into the World Trade Centre in New York. This was also the major event that sparked the 2nd gulf war by Bush jr. (Leave it to the Bush family to stir things up again). There are lots of conspiracies surronding the event.

He is also in the works of making the first ever free health care system withing the U.S. There was also controversy that has recently ben put to bed, about him being born in Kenya due to his father being Kenyan.
