In May of 1928 the Union Council set this as the opening date of the Memorial Union. They said that on this date the Terrace would be in full function. However, construction took longer than expected and the Terrace did not open until October.

Wisco Industries began producing the classic red, yellow and green terrace chairs and have been doing so ever since.

Blue terrace chairs were produced and sold for $1,000 each to raise money for the Memorial Union Reinvestment Project, that is still on going today.
