History of the holocaust

  • 1933

    The Nazi takes power in Germany. Hitler becomes leader. Nazis set up camp.
  • 1934

    Jewish newspapers can't be sold in the streets anymore.
  • 1935

    Jews can't vote now. Nazis boycott jewish business.
  • 1925

    Jewish people don't have as many rights anymore
  • 1838

    All Jewish businesses are shut down. Jews must carry cards with Js on them. Jews must be in certain places at certain times.
  • 1939

    Germany takes over Czechoslovakia. They also invade Poland.
    World war two begins as France and Britain declare war on Germany. Jews must follow curfews and they must turn in their radios and wear yellow stars of David.
  • 1940

    Nazis put German Jews in Poland.
    Jews are put in ghettos.
    The Germans begin to kill Jews in Poland.
  • 1941

    Germany attacks Soviet Union.
    Jews may not leave their house without permission from the police.
    Jews cannot use public telephones anymore.
  • 1942

    Jews now cannot keep pets, buy food, use public transportation, or go to school. Nazis discuss their plan to kill all European Jews.
  • 1943

    About 80 or 85 percent of the Jews that would have been killed are already dead.
  • 1944

    Hitler takes over Hungary and sends 12,000 Jews every day to Auschwitz and they are murdered there.
  • 1945

    Hitler is defeated and world two ends in Europe.
    The death camps are emptied.
    The survivors of it are placed in displaced people facilities.
