A styling makeover was the big news for the 1991 Corvette. A new look was overdue since it had been the same body shape since March 1983 when the C4 was first available.

A special Commemorative Edition, recognizing the Le Mans successes, was available for 2004. Special C5 Corvette race cars (below right), with the designation of C5-R had seen consistent success in the most demanding race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

2013 would be the last year for the C6 generation. There were strong indications that the C7 would feature lower displacement engines, partly due to more stringent fuel economy requirements.
