    The Start And The End

  • 460

    Democritus

    Democritus
Born 460 BC. Died 370 BC. Developed the concept of the 'atom'. He believed anything in the universe is made up of atoms. He under stood the Milky Way. That it was a large collection of stars. He thought space was limitless.
  • Antoine Lavoisier

    Antoine Lavoisier
Born August the 26th, 1743. Died may the 8th 1794 Discovered elements, formulated a basic law of chemistry and created the metric system. Antoine said “when something burns, it actually absorbed something from the air." Later he named the “something” from the air oxygen. He found that it combined with other chemicals to form acid.
  • Joseph Proust

    Joseph Proust
Born September the 26th, 1754. Died July the 5th, 1826. Joseph Proust was French chemist. Prove the idea of every pure chemical compound element. The Quantities of the element that make up a chemical compound is constant. Study sugar in grapes and sugar in honey are identical.
  • John Dalton

    John Dalton
Matter is made up of atoms. Atoms cant be made or destroyed. All atoms are the same. Born on September the 6, 1766. Born in Cockermouth. Died on July 27, 1844. Died in Manchester
  • Wilhelm Roentgen

    Wilhelm Roentgen
Born march the 27th, 1845. Died February the 10th 1923. Wilhelm Roentgen was the first person to make x-rays. Known for discoveries in mechanics, heat and electricity.
  • Sir Joseph Jonh Thomson

    Sir Joseph Jonh Thomson
Born December the 18th, 1856. Died August the 30th, 1940. Sir Joseph John Thomson was a physicist who stormed the world of nuclear physics. Thomson took the deflection of the rays by the magnets and charged the plates as evidence of “the bodies much smaller than atoms,” Thomson calculated these bodies had large charge to mass ratio.
  • Max Planck

    Max Planck
Born April the 23, 1858. Died October the 4th, 1947. Made many contributions to the theoretical physics. Many primarily role to the quantum theory. This theory revolutionized our understanding of atomic and subatomic processes.
  • Ernest Rutherford

    Ernest Rutherford
Born August the 30th 1871. Died October the 19th 1937. Found the nuclear stretcher of the atoms. “Father” of nuclear physics. The first person to split the atom. He identified radiations like alpha.
  • Albert Einstein

    Albert Einstein
Born March the 14th 1879. Died April the 18th 1955. Was manly known for his Theory Of Relativity. E-Mc2. One of his inventions include the nuclear bomb.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
Electrons travel in atationary orbit defined by their angular momentum. Energy levels orbits and the postulation that the emission of light occurs when an electron moves into a lower energy obits. Born in October the 7th 1885.Died in November the 18th 1962
  • Henry Moseley

    Henry Moseley
Born November the 23rd, 1887. Died August the 10th, 1915. Made the basis of the Periodic Table. Contributed to lots of other scientist of physics research.
  • James Chadwick

    James Chadwick
Born October the 20th, 1891. Died july the 24th, 1974. James was a Physicist. James discover the particles in the nucleus of an atom. The nucleus of an atom became a neutron because it has no electric charge. In contrast with the helium nuclei repelled by considerable electrical forces. Nuclei is a heavy atom? Capable of penetrating and splitting the nuclei of heavier elements. All this leads to the creation of the atomic bomb.
  • Werner Heisenberg

    Werner Heisenberg
    • Born December the 5th, 1901- Died February the 1s, 1976- Developed new theories in quantum mechanics.- Famous for his uncertanilty principle. Impossibility of simultaneously knowing an object position and momentum. This principle is only significant for sub microscopic particles like electrons. Wrote the first plans for the first nuclear reactor.
  • Aristotle

    Aristotle
Born 384 BC. Died 322 BC Aristotle believed the universe was made up of four elements: earth, air, fire and water. Each element had a place depending on its heaviness. The elements move in a straight line. Earth – down, Fire – up. Aristitle explained the constant circular motions of the heavens. Aither does not have the ability to change on to change position. Aristotle believed that heavier bodies of a material, when the shapes are the same, would fall faster then lighter bodie.
