    1st Special Education School
    Thomas Gallaudet established the first special education school in Harford, Connecticut. Previously called American Asylum for the Education and Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb but now Referred to as American School for the Deaf. The school was the results of parents rasining concern about their deaf children not reciveing education.

    The worlds biggest professional association committed to enhancing the achievement of children and youth with disabilities, as well as those with skills and talents. They stand for proper government policies, create professional standards, offer professional development and assist professionals in obtaining the circumstances and resources they need to practice. They are known for the sources they provide for special educators.

    Brown vs.Board of Education
    U.S Supreme Court case that ruled racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional. This case was the first of many in which fought for the students at a disadvantage due to the inequality within the education system.     Also known as the ESEA, was a law passed by the federal government in an effort to provide equal access to quality education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.They did this by giving feudal funds to schools in the areas of the disadvantaged background.Singed into law by president Lyndon B.     Took place in District of Columbia Public schools. The case was brought to light because certain children were excluded from the school system. The system also do not provide enough training to teachers to support children who need special education.

    Also referred to as IDEA. This act makes sure that students with disabilites are provided for with free appropratie public education. IDEA oversees how states provide early intervention and special education and services similar.This act was later reauthorized.

    States are required to test students on subjects like reading and math in grades 3 and higher.This act went to give accountability for results, unprecedented stated and focusing on resources that are proven to increase eduction methods.This act was signed into action by George W. Bush.
