    Vocational Rehabilitation Act
    Also known as the Section 504 Act. A national law that protects individuals from discriminations based on their disabilities. This law prohibits any receiving federal financial assistance from any department in the U.S. Because of this Act numerous advocates, educators and parents started asking questions in how this specifically benefits elementary and secondary education which conveyed a big meeting between the Special Services and advocates.

  • Educational Amendments Act (P.L. 93-380)

    Educational Amendments Act (P.L. 93-380)
    This Law protects families from having to pay skyrocket prices to provide education for disabled children. It also requires schools to have an education plan where it presents more options to the students' needs. Protects non-discriminating testing, screening, and evaluation of the child. If the child is needed to be referred to another school, district, or state the education department pays forward the expenses caused to the family.

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act
    This law guaranteed free public education to disabled children. It's purposed to assure all disable children have appropriate free education, that the rights of the children and parents are protected, assist states to provide education to the children, assure that the education is effective and worthy to the children. this law supported more than 1 million that were left out from the educational system.
  • Education of the Handicapped Act Amendments (P.L. 99-457)

    Education of the Handicapped Act Amendments (P.L. 99-457)
    This amendments act was developed because the advocates were concern that disables infants and toddlers were at risk of potential delays in the development of not having the right help. This Act makes a requirement for states to offer more education services to disable toddlers, infants, and their families to receive financial support. This Act also gave parents the full power of being able to examine their kids' records.
  • Honig v. Doe

    Honig v. Doe
    This U.S supreme court case was against a California school board violated the All handicapped children act by suspending a student for disrupting a class because of his behaviors cause from his disability. After his classmate taunted him, he choked another student and had a tantrum, quickly after he was expelled and not allow back in the classroom. The court granted Doe wishes since the school violated the "Stay put" requirement.

    Americans with Disabilities Act
    ADA became a civil rights law that prohibited discrimination against disabled people in all matters of public life. This law makes sure that all disable person gets the sam treatments, opportunities, and rights as any other person. This law also helps give disable people accomodations in any public or private area that are needed.
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) (P.L. 105-17)

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) (P.L. 105-17)
    This law its most commonly know by IDEA '9. This law makes sure that students with disabilities aren't being denied of staying in a classroom because of their behavior caused by their disabilities, however, it also gives the educators an authority to remove a child from a classroom to another appropriate setting if the child behaviors seem dangerous. This law allows schools to only suspend disable students up to 10 days.
  • Cedar Rapids v. Garret F.

    Cedar Rapids v. Garret F.
    This was a supreme court case that held responsible Cedar Rapids COmmunity schools distracted for not providing the necessary services for Garret. Garret was a disabled student who depended on a wheelchair and was denied by his school and district of adding an accessible wheelchair ramp in the school after many requests. The court granted Garret wishes, the court argued that the needs of the child are more medically or expensive the school needs to make more arrangements for the child's needs.
  • No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)

    No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
    The NCLF act, which was later signed into law in 2002 by George Bush gave the American education system the responsibility of the students' academic progress and learning. This act also made sure that states help improve better performance in school for special needs, second language, and minority children. This law also states that these requirements weren't obligated, however, if the states would fail to comply they would be at risk of losing federal money.

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) (P.L. 108-446)
    This law reserve the originals structured requirements however, it also makes new changes. These new additions require that all special educators must be highly qualified to work with the children. It requires that the students are given less paperwork and non-educational activities. this new law also extends the services for infant and toddlers services to ages further on 2 years old
