Racial Segregation
Phoenix College elected its first African-American student president Eldridge Gonaway and was ahead of the times. In 1954, the local high schools finaly desegregated. -
Dr. Mildred Bullpit
Dr. Bullpit became the first woman in the entire nation to be the Dean of continuing education. The Phoenix College Auditorium was named after her. -
National Science Foundation
The National Science Foundation selects Phoenix College to participate in a computer aided instruction development program. -
ASL program
Phoenix College established the first ASL program and it remains today as the only one of its kind in Maricopa County. -
Dr. Myrna Harrison
Dr. Myrna Harrison named first female President of Phoenix College. -
Womens Soccer Team

ACE implementation
Phoenix College introduces ACE (Achieving a College Education) program which targets at risk high school students and was the beginning of the early college program. -
