    The Newburgh Aqueduct Association was created for the purpose of procuring water for what was then the Village of Newburgh.
  • Act Passed to Acquire Water

    Act Passed to Acquire Water
    Legislature in the Village was passed allowing trustees to encroach on privately owned properties where potential water sources resided.
  • Cold Spring Acquired

    Cold Spring Acquired
    Trustees first attempted to contact Jonathon Hasbrouck, the owner of Cold Spring, in May of 1813. The well was finally purchased three years later and combined with other wells to be used as a water source for the Village.
  • Newburgh Water Commission Formed

    Newburgh Water Commission Formed
    The Village Board of Trustees passed an additional act to procure water supplies. This time, water commissioners George Cornwell, Lewis W. Young, and James Belknap were appointed to the task.
