  • NASCAR is formed

    NASCAR president at the time Bill France Sr. re-visited the idea of racing the cars that people would drive on the street like late model family sedans, and since no other racing organization was using the idea, France figured it might be worth a shot.

    Datona beach/road course was quite possibly the first real NASCAR course.

  • First part specifically made for stock car racing

    The first part specifically made for stock car racing is a racing tire made by Pure Oil Company

  • Intro of radios

    Radios were first used in 1952 during the Datona beach/road course.

  • Car makers get involved

    Some car companies introduced a "severe usage" kit, of mainly suspension parts, to replace all the breaking original parts. While others would introduce high performance street legal engine parts for stock car racers.

  • More factory options

    Chevrolet introduces the 355 "small block" V8 which becomes a huge developement in stock car history

  • Buick's turn

    Buick releases the 1957 coup which had better brakes than before due to the way it dissapated heat.

    "The King" one of the best stock car racers ever with 200 NASCAR Wiston Cup wins, 7 series championships. He is ranked number one in the folowing, all-time wins (200), races started (1,184), top-five finishes (555), top-10 finishes (712), pole positions (126), laps completed (307,836), laps led (52,194), races led (599) and consecutive races won (10) and in 1992 was inducted into the Motor Speedway's Court of Legends and in 1997 was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
