  • World Trade Center Bombing

    World Trade Center Bombing
    Febuary 26, 1993 a truck containing a bomb was detonated at the base of the North Tower with the intent on toppeling it into the South Tower and ultimately bring down both. Though it was not succesfull and the towers did not collapse 6 people were killed and thousands injured. In march of 94' 4 men were convicted for the bombings, and 3 years later another 2.

    Rwanda Genocide
    The Rwandan Genocide was the 1994 mass murder of an estimated 800,000 people in the small, East African nation of Rwanda. Over the course of approximately 100 days from the assassination of Juvénal Habyarimana on April 6 through mid-July, at least 800,000 people were killed, according to a Human Rights Watch estimate. Other estimates of the death toll have ranged between 500,000 and 1,000,000, or as much as 20% of the country's total population. Constant unrest led to major violent outbreaks.

    Tokyo Sarin Gas Attacks
    In what is considered the worst attack on Japan since Hiro Shima, 5 coordinated attacks to release sarin gas into the Tokyo subway lines. Members of the Aum Shinrikyo, a religious cult, launched a large scale domestic terrorist attack on Japanese subway trains killing 13 people, severily injuring 50 and causing vision problems for thousands. 10 men were considered responsible. later in 2007 over 1000 people are recieving benefits from injuries sustained on that day.

    The Oklahoma City Bombing was a large attack on a federal building, it was considered the largest act of terrorism on American soil until September 11, 2011. The blast claimed the lives of 168 people including 19 children under the age of 6. And it injured more than 680 others. A surrounding 324 buildings in a 16 block radius were either destroyed or damaged and burned 86 cars. The damage quota was estimated around $652 million.     Columbine High School Shootings
    On the morning of April 20, 1999 Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold plotted a plan to shoot up columbine high school and plant various homemade pipe bombs in different areas of the building. The shootings killed 12 students 1 teacher and injured 21 other people. It was considered the biggest tradegy at a public high school ever. National response was a much higher security standards at high schools and a zero tolerance act towards school violence.

The International reaction was complete awe. thousands of people were either killed or injured in the attacks, some forced to jump out of very high stories to escape the blazing fires. This days events are considered the coldest in American history. The world will never forget such a horrifying as 9/11.

    the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated during reentry. Columbia had completed a successful 16 day science mission. Columbia was doomed from a few moments after launch when a large peice of foam that insulated the fuel tank broke off and hit the leading edge of the shuttles wing. Killed on the shuttle were Rick D Husband the mission commander, Laurel B Cool the shuttle pilot, and mission specialists, David M Brown, Michael P Anderson, Laurel B Clark, Kalpana Chawal and Ilan Ramon.

    The Very First Big 4 Event
    The Big 4 wasa DVD/Blu-ray featuring live concert performances by Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax, collectively known as "The Big 4" of thrash metal. The event took place on 22 June 2010 at the Sonisphere Festival at Vasil Levski National Stadium, Sofia, Bulgaria. Before its DVD release, it was shown at 450 movie theaters in the United States and over 350 movie theaters across Europe, Canada, and Latin America on June 22, 2010. In 2011 the Big 4 are set play a few more select shows.

    Japan has raised its assessment of the accident at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant from 5 to 7, the worst rating on an international scale, putting the disaster on par with the 1986 Chernobyl explosion, in an acknowledgement that the human and environmental consequences of the nuclear crisis could be dire and long-lasting. While the amount of radioactive materials released so far from Fukushima Daiichi so far has equaled about 10 percent of that released at Chernoby.
