Miami Developes

1890-Julia Tuttle purchases large citirs plantation.
1895- Henry Flagler brought the railroad to Miami by exchanging some of Tuttle's land for the railway.

Florida Land Boom

Laws about gambleing and the prohibition of Alchohol were weak in Miami and many northerners moved to Miami creating the Florida Land Boom.

The Great Depression and the Hurricane of 1926 left many people homeless and poor.

Cuban Exiles

Ist wave of Cuban exiles moved to Miami and formed commnuites within Miami, like Little Havanna.

Miami Grows into a global city of International trade, drug crimes, Tv series "Miami Vice", and is considered a tropical destination

Hurricane Andrew

Hurricane Andrew hit Miami in the summer of 1992 and left Miami with over $20 million in damages.

Miami is home to an NBA, MLB, and NFL teams. Miami has construction boom compared to New York City. Miami is a central part of the Latin Ameican trade market.
