    Joseph Bologne being the director of this group is a vastly significant event in Classical history, as he was of mixed race. He was praised for his musicianship and helped pave the way for other people of color in the Classical world. Though he was excellent at his craft, he still faced controversy regarding his race and was forced to give up an important job due to reluctant colleagues.
