    Ruby Bridges attends William Frantz Elementary School
    One of six african american children to attend an all white school. It marked the end of segregation in schools and society. There was an overwelming amount of backlash from the community and US Marshals and presidential decrees were sent out to assist and protect the children from the community.

    Samuel A. Kirk "Learning Disability"
    The term "learning disability" is first used in a conference in which Samual attended. It is used to describe something deep and neurological or phsycological that obstructs the ability to learn. Not to be confused with disability through physical means.

    Discrimination based on race, gender, and religious and national descent. This prohibits discrimination and segregation in schools and many other institutions.

    The project was designed to give lower income and poverty stricken citizens childrens the ability to start to persue education. In long wrong have a higher chance of persuing higher education such as college and educational institutions. Part of the war on poverty.

    Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children v. Pennsylvania
    Court case against the illegality of Pennsylvania in which mentally disabled and disabled children were denied education due to their disabilities. Ultimately PARC won and Pennsylvanian children with disabilites could attend public schools as any other children could.

    Rehabilitation Act of 1973
    Prohibits discrimination in disability programs run through and by the government and its agencies. Also extends and revises powers to assist those with disabilities.
  • Equal Education Opportunity Act

    Equal Education Opportunity Act
    A law directed towards students, it provides the recources and allows for students to all be taught on equal standards.Additional help is given to those behind or who have some disfunction or handicap in learning, be it race, disability, or a different natural language.

    Lau v. Nichols
    Children who spoke only Chinese or were in no means proficient in English were not given the proper resources to learn English. The Supreme court ruled in favor of the children and ultimately took steps to allow them to learn English and integrate into society through help given by teachers and staff.

    This case removes a law in louisiana that states creationism and evolution must be taught hand in hand. One of which is scientific reasoning,evolution. And the other being a religious beliefe which has very few ties aside from confilction to the evolution. Further seperating church and state.

    Edwards v. Aguillard, et al.
    The United State Supreme Court completely eradicates a piece of state legislation that they had previously rendered invalid. The piece in question forces creationist teaching over that of evolution and in many cases comptely removes evolution from the coriculum. This is seen as an attempt to complete remove church from student learning.
