The Lakeside Inn was built by the El Cajon Valley Land Company to promote the area as they sold land in and around Lakeside.

This photo was taken on the corner of Los Coches Road and Old Highway 80. Despite the failure of the Lakeside Inn, people did move to Lakeside and it continued to grow.
