    This event desegregating schools benefited gifted education by allowing students of underrepresented ethnic groups the ability to have an equal opportunity for an education, especially gifted services.

    This event developed government significance to gifted programming in schools. As the first event that created a federal mandate on gifted services, making gifted education a priority is extremely important.
