    A Phenakistiscope was an optical toy that had images around a wheel- like object that were each frames of an object in motion. If the object was spun it would give the illusion of the images moving.

    A zoetrope was an object with images inside. They had little holes you could see the images thorugh and when the object was spun at a high speed, the images would give the illusion of motion if you look though the holes.
