    Eadweard Muybridge experimented capturing moving pictures. He placed 12 cameras on horse track and attached thread through shutters, once the horse ran through the threads all the cameras went off in sequence. An invention called the zoopraxiscope allowed him to quickly project pictures which created the first motion picture.

    The movie "A trip to the moon" was created, back then you can see a movie being played over and over again which was part of the flow of time and you could see an example of this in the movie "A trip to the moon". It was considered one of the coolest things you could see back then.
  • The Roaring 20's

    During the mid 1920'3 over 800 films were being created each year, Hollywood had risen to new heights. In fact Disney was on the poverty line of studios due to the fact they didn't own their own theatre. Directors received more recognition because they used their own stylistic signatures as their products.

    The 1930's was a time for the revival for documentaries and other nonfiction films. With world war 2 approaching propaganda films were displayed at all theaters. Also introduced actors talking in their movies, the name of these films were called 'talkies'.

    During the war film was taken to a new level by creating patriotic extravaganzas to uplift the citizens left home. Casablanca provided emotional aid for lovers, families and friends separated by the war. IT was a time when movies were needed most so the people could keep hope that they would win the war.

    With the creation of a television set, families could watch things right in their own home. With the younger generation growing up all these movies they wanted something different, rebellion, so that's what directors included in their cast with actors like James Dean, Paul Newman, and Ava Gardner.

    With such tragedies in the country most films did not make it out but when they did they included fun and fashion. The Civil rights movement was up and booming while the film industry was failing due to financial problems.
  • Vietnam

    The film industry gained more money by opening the theaters on Fridays and Saturdays so more people could come and heighten profits. Advertised its new releases on television so you were more up to date when the next movie would come out. More action and youth oriented films were created to draw in a new demographic and crowd.

    Directors such as Steven Speilberg and George Lucas brought movies and how they were made in a whole new light. Though most of the other movies were more formulaic and only served the purpose to bring more money in rather than to create something original. The film industry soon realized not all movies were a hit and were called 'turkeys' by the general populace.

    The use of special effects made the films more expensive to make but they brought money with the raising of the price of tickets. The need for legendary movies was great and the pressure was hard on directors. A demand for certain actresses and actors though rose, people such as Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, and Jim Carrey.

    Kids tv shows and networks had boosted their income profits by viewing made for tv movies that wouldn't appear in theaters. Disney especially excelled by using a select number of actors for all the same movies and shows. That allowed them to not use as much money on actors.

    Marvel studios spurted out many superhero movies including the avengers, more X-men movies, and newer heroes such as doctor strange and ant man. The combination of comic books and manga allowed more ideas for movies
