This was the earliest use of color in films and shook the world of film as the age of black and white movies began to dissipate. This mostly used in commercials and was short-lived. It then upgraded, showing more then just the 3 basic colors. -
Effects of WWI
Many small film industries were crushed under the weight that was known as World War 1. It not only effected us but the whole world, France had to shut-down its film industry completely to prepare for war and Germanys film industry was extremely weakened too. -
Dream Becomes Reality
The first successful movie with sound was made, The jazz singer. This brought the end of the silent movie era as "Talkies", thats what they would call it, began to rise in popularity. -
Effects of WWII
Unlike World War 1, World War 2 actually helped the film industry. Mainly used to get support, movies were used as propaganda to help fund our armies and raise the morale of soldiers and families alike. -
World Cinema
After WWII, the film industry around the world boomed. Because of this many movies were now being filmed out of the country which put a strain on Hollywoods wallet. -
3-D
The first 3-D movies used dual-strip polaroids and disposable anaglyph glasses together to create pop-up images. Thus began the 3-D movie craze. -
Star Wars
George Lucas' Star Wars shook the world of movies. Not only did it shape the way effects are used today, it also became one of the most important movies ever created as it also set the bar for music and sound editing. -
VCR
With the creation of the VCR, movies can be watched at home. Film studios however were against this and even tried to ban home movies, this however was unsuccessful.
