    Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of education was the starting point for race and education, this decision overturned the Plessy v. Ferguson decision of 1896. This decision made the Supreme Court rule that segregation within educational grounds was unconstitutional even if seemed equal. This setup path for future legislation that helped with both race and children with disabilities.

    The elementary and Secondary Education Act was established/signed by Lyndon B. Johnson. This help provides funds for needed schools, improving the education of poor people within that community. Schools that could not afford basic supplies for students such as books and writing material were aided by this law.

This act was great to step forward in normalizing the lives of students who had disabilities and needed the extra push to enjoy equal facilities.

Technology is a big part of everyone's everyday life and impacts a big part of students' lives. This act increases consistency in the programs and ensures consistency across the country.

    Disabilities Education Improvement Act

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act was amended to provide additional accountability and funding for special education. On top of developing specific plans, they now had to have target goals for their students with disabilities. They also expanded on developing the next phase in their lives and giving the children a more concrete foundation.
