    Teaching Machine
    Behaviorist, B.F. Skinner, designed the "teaching machine". which was a machine full of questions. Students would have to answer the questions to proceed to higher levels. The idea was that individual students would be able to learn at their own pace. Although not very popular, it influenced program instruction and the usage of technology in the classrooms.
  • Brown VS Board of Education

    Brown VS Board of Education
    This court case was a landmark United States Supreme Court case in which the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students unconstitutional. At the court case, the Supreme Court finally recognized that separate schools for black Americans were ultimately not equal, This court case repealed the doctrine, "separate, but not equal".This ruling paved the way for integration and was a major victory of the civil rights movement.

    This act established a precedent that continues today to enlist the federal government's help in equalizing educational oppurtunity for all children. This act created an open door for federal funds for teacher preparation in math, science, and technology.

    This act insured that special needs children would receive a free and appropriate public education. Teachers began thinking about their students' "individual needs."

    A Nation at Risk
    This article introduced a return to academic content and basic skills. Nearly twenty years later, the back to basics movement culmiinated in the 2001 No Child Left Behind Act, which holds schools accountable for universal stardards and testing.
