    FIre in Rome that was started around the merchant shops area near the Circus Maximus stadium. The fire began in a place where many flammable objects/items were stored. Many Christians believed at the time that the fire was the beginning of the Last Judgement.

    The fire expanded through narrow roads to nearby apartments, the people living there fled, but looters and arsonists reportedly spread the flames by throwing torches. After six days, the fire eventually came to a halt, but it somehow reignited and continued to burn for three more days. After the fire, an estimated two-thirds of Rome had been destroyed.
