The Walking Machine

The High Wheel Bicycle

In 1870 the first all metal machine appeared. It has a high wheel and a small wheel. this bike was very dangerous because if you hit a stone you will go flying over the big wheel and hit the ground face first!

The High Wheel Tricycle

When men rode the high wheel ladys started riding a tycycle with 2 big wheels at the back and a small one at the frount because their skirts wuld get causght on the high wheel.

The safer High Wheel

May 8, 1886

Improvements to the high wheel began to be seen, many with the small wheel in the front to stop the tipping-forward problem.

The Hard-Tired Safety

Jun 2, 1892

This bike returns to the fist bike but with hard tyres for saftey.

The Pnuematic-Tired Safety

Nov 25, 1910

The pnuematic tire was first found to the bicycle by an Irish guy who was trying to give his young son a more comfortable ride on his tricycle.
