  • John Dalton

He wrote essays on mixed gasses on steam or vapour of water and other liquids of different temperatures. John calculated the atomic weights of elements and put them in to order on the periodic table.
  • Ernest Rutherford

    Ernest Rutherford
Earlier in his life he discovered the concept of radioactive half-life. He was also apart of finding the effects of x-ray gases with J.J Thomson, which then led onto the discovery of electron.
  • Marie Curie

    Marie Curie
She was the first women to win a Nobel prize which was in Physics in 1903 she also was awarded the Davy Medal in 1903, the Matteucci Medal in 1904 and a Nobel prize in Chemistry in 1911. Marie made the discovery of the elements polonium and radium
  • Henry Moseley

    Henry Moseley
Henry Moseley put the elements in order of the number of atoms in each chemical. He predicted that a couple of elements were missing in the perodic table. He measured a number of different chemicals. . He is also know for the early devolpment of x-ray spectram.
  • Francis Aston

    Francis Aston
He designed and constructed new types of pumps for vessels. From creating a pump for vessels which then lead on to gas discharge phenomena in evacuated tubes.
  • Niels Bohr

    Niels Bohr
He developed the Bohr model for the atom with the atomic nucleus in the centre and the electrons in an orbit around them. He was involved in the understanding of atomic structure and quantum mechanics which won him the Nobel prize in physics in 1922
  • J.J Thompson

    J.J Thompson
He discovered electrons and isotopes, he also invented the mass spectrometer. He won the Adams Prize in 1884 from his interest in atomic structure.
  • James Chadwick

    James Chadwick
He is know for the discovery of the Neutron in 1932 and the Manhattan Project which was during World War 2. James was able to build an atomic bomb as part of the Tube Alloys project.
  • Erwin Schrodinger

    Erwin Schrodinger
He was an author in many different works in the field of physics. Erwin was awarded the Nobel prize in 1933 and the Max Planck Medal in 1937
  • Murray Gell-Mann

    Murray Gell-Mann
He developed the V-A theory of the weak interaction. Murray introduced current algebra in the 1960's. He is known for keeping the string theory known in the 90's
