    Zeotrope
    The Zoetrope was created in 1834 by William Horner. The Zoetrope was one of the pre-film animation devices used to create motion through a sequence of pictures or drawings.   • Praxinoscope

    Praxinoscope
    An animation device invented in France in 1877 by Charles-Émile Reynaud. This device had the same idea as the zoetrope by using strips of pictures inside of a spinning cylinder but improved upon the zoetrope by narrowing its slits.     Pauvre Pierrot
    This French short film was created in 1892 by Charles-Émile Reynaud. Pauvre Pierrot, Poor Pete, was one of the first animated films ever made.     Fantasmagorie
    This French animated film was released August 7, 1908 by Émile Cohl. This was one of the first examples of hand-drawn animation. This film mainly pictures a stick figure that encounters objects that morph and move as the animation continues.     Gertie the Dinosaur
    Gertie the Dinosaur was a 1914 animated short film created by Winsor McCay. This was the first film to feature a dinosaur. McCay began to make the sequel "Gertie on Tour" but abandoned the film after just a minute of footage. This film consists of the childish and funny character Gertie doing tricks for his master.     Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
    Oswald was Disney's first character to appear in their own series in 1927. There were 26 animated one-reelers featuring Oswald. The character was created by Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney and then the comedic films were distributed by Universal Pictures.     Steamboat Willie was an animation created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. Though Mickey Mouse and Minnie had been featured in other films, Steamboat Willie is considered their debut.     This American animated musical film was created in 1937 by Walt Disney. This film was based on a fairy tale that is widely known throughout Europe. Snow White was the first female character to be honored in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Snow White was originally voiced by Adriana Caselotti but has been voiced by many more since then.     Crusader Rabbit was the first animated series that was produced for television specifically. The show was test marketed in 1948 but did not air officially until 1949.     This film was created in 2013 and was Disney's 53rd featured film. The screenplay to this film was written by Jennifer Lee but the film was directed by Lee with the help of Chris Buck. The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated feature, and was also the best selling DVD, selling 40 million copies by 2006.
