HISTORY OF TDEA

  • 1983

    Classes for the Document Management and Micrography, Commercial Secretariat, and Gerontology programs began. In addition, the Open and Distance Education program for Antioquia was launched.
  • 1986

    The first class of technologists graduated in a ceremony presided over by Belisario Betancur Cuartas, then President of the Republic.
  • 1989

    The name of the Central Women's Institute was changed to Tecnológico de Antioquia through Ordinance 56.
  • 1992

    Secondary vocational education was disaggregated from higher education programs, creating two independent institutions: CEFA and Tecnológico de Antioquia.
  • 1994

    The new headquarters of the Tecnológico de Antioquia was inaugurated in the center of the city.
  • 1996

    The Aburrá Sur Regional Center was created through an inter-administrative agreement with the Municipality of Itagüí.
  • 1999

    On April 12, the current headquarters of the Tecnológico de Antioquia was inaugurated.
    In that year, eleven new academic programs at the bachelor's and technology levels were approved.
  • 2006

    • The Tecnológico acquired the status of a University Institution through Resolution 3612 of the MEN.
    • Icontec NTC Quality Certifications – ISO 9001: 2000 and NTCGP 1000:2004 were obtained.
  • 2012

    Approval of the first Master's Degree in Education. Resolution 7198 of June 27.
  • 2016

    High Quality Institutional Accreditation was achieved through Resolution 16890 of the Ministry of National Education.
  • 2018

    The 25th anniversary was celebrated and significant works such as the auditorium, the technological library, and the swimming pool were delivered.
  • 2019

    The TdeA achieved the classification of 12 research groups before Colciencias and Block 13 was inaugurated.
  • 2020

    Tecnológico de Antioquia delivered Technological Block 2 on the Robledo campus and renewed the High Quality Institutional Accreditation.
  • 2021

    The first stage of phase I of the TdeA Aburrá Sur Campus in Itagüí was completed and the Sofía Medina de López Legal Office was inaugurated.
  • 2022

    Construction of the Green Mall on the Robledo Campus began and the construction of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Transfer and Innovation (CETI) was planned.
  • 2023

    The execution of the 2022-2026 Institutional Development Plan "Being, Doing, Transcending" advanced and the inauguration ceremony of seven full-time teachers was carried out. Tecnológico de Antioquia ranked first in the Institutional Performance Index for the third consecutive year.
