    The United States of America was formed as the states combined and they became independent as a country and weren't a part of the british empire. This marked the start of the America of today.
  • The First Fleet

    The first fleet arrives in Botany Bay which begins British settlement in Australia. Australia was discovered by Captain James Cook but it was called New Holland back then. More than 162,000 convicts were shipped to Australia between 1788 and 1850.

    The French Revolution was a period of radical social and politcal upheaval that affected French and modern history. It marked the decline of powerful monarchies and churches across France.

    The charter which was written in 1838 allowed all males over the age of 21 to vote unless they had commited a crime or were insane. Before this only 18% of adult males could males.

    The civil war began because the north wanted to abolish slavery and the south did not. This led to a war that lasted 4 years and ended with over 600,000 dead. Slavery was abolished after this war was finished.

    The ship known as the Titanic hits an iceberg in the north-west Atlantic Ocean. Some of the wealthiest people in the world were on the ship and also some emigrants from Britain and Ireland. It showed that even the greatest things aren't industructable.

    World War 1 began in Europe and had about 9 million people killed. The immediate trigger for the war was when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. This set them off and the war lasted until November 11 1918.
